Blog Post #3

I have some good news to report! My first card trick, though trivial, has been mastered! I have a beginner trick down. If my audience member picks a card, I can successfully tell the person what their card is! While this doesn't seem like that great to some people, I am very proud of myself. To respond to someone that commented on my blog post last week, it's hard for me to show my resources because I don't really want people knowing how I do my magic, that would defeat the purpose of magic! I do plan to upload a video of me performing a magic trick! I would to ask all of my viewers, I hope I have a couple, what they what me to do in weeks to come! I plan on working again on card tricks again this week, as I think it is important for me to master.
I do know what I am going to try to accomplish next week. I have a trick in mind that involves burning a card, so I don't know how practical it is, but I will practice the part that doesn't include fire. I also have one that doesn't involve flammable materials, but uses the same basic concept of using the element of surprise.
There is one facet of magic that I will also be looking to explore, disappearing objects. Disappearing objects  is probably one of the most difficult types of magic to master, as it requires a great deal of skill. With card of coin tricks, if you mess up, you can usually fix your mistake. If you mess up a disappearing trick, the magic trick is ruined and your audience will more than likely be disappointed.
I would like to extend a question to you guys, my followers. What exactly do you want me to perform next? Write your comments in the comment section below. I look forward to hearing your suggestions and I hope they are some good ones. Especially you Noah!

  1. Hi Noah! I'm in the other block, but I saw your blog on the moodle and I took interest to it. I love watching people do magic, I actually think it's extremely cool and I wish I was learning it. I'm really excited to watch your upcoming video! Is it really difficult? I tried to do a disappearing act with a dollar bill when I was 10, and it failed miserably. You might not be able to tell us, but are you using some kind of magic kit? Or just scraps of materials you use around your home? Have you watched David Blaine? He's definitely my favorite magician! I would check him out if you haven't already! Good Luck!

  2. Noah, first of all I think it is really cool you are doing magic tricks. I have always loved watching magic acts, and would enjoy it if you uploaded a video of yourself doing a magic trick. I think that you should do the trick that involves the element of surprise. Even though I would love to see you light a card on fire, I think you should master another trick before attempting this.

  3. Hey Noah,
I've been following your blog throughout the project so far, but this week was the first that I was really excited about what's happening. The entire "guessing your card" trick has interested me for a while, it seems so simple yet magical. I think that you should try to branch out from just card tricks, just to mix things up and keep it interesting for both you and the other members of the class. That being said, I guess a burning card trick would also do that! All in all, I'm excited to see how your project progresses, because I can see some cool things happening!

  4. Hey Noah-
I think that your blog is a good reflection of your progress so far, which appears to be good. Given that this is the first blog of yours that I've read, I am not too familiar with the premise of your project so I have a couple questions that you can maybe answer in your next blog. First, what is your product going to be? Is it going to be a routine? If so, I think that part of your research should maybe be directed towards what makes a good, flowing routine, to cover that aspect. In addition, what/who are your resources?
    Anyhow, good job so far.
